General Background

     Community Development Districts are statutorily created governmental entities charged with the task of maintaining the common areas in  planned communities. Westchase currently has two Community Development Districts, both of which were created under Chapter 190, Florida Statues. The first district to be established in Westchase was the Westchase Community Development District (The CDD). More recently, the Westchase East Community Development District (The CDD-East) was created .

     The Westchase  CDD and The Westchase  CDD East are seperate governmental agencies with independent budgets and Supervisory Boards. However, they have historically pooled resources and shared expenses by operating under an agreement to proportionally divide the expense associated with the operation and maintenance of the common areas.
